Good-to-knows
Sleep Detection and Scoring
Sleep data is processed after you wake up, so it may take some time before your results appear in the app. Your sleep data can also be recalculated a few times throughout the day.
Here’s how sleep is detected:
The algorithm uses movement and heart rate to detect sleep and wakefulness
Lower movement and heart rate signal sleep
Higher movement and heart rate signal wakefulness
Sleep stages are scored every 30 seconds while you are asleep
Once scoring is complete, the data is sent to the app
Because of this process, it’s normal if your sleep data is not available immediately after waking up.
If your sleep time or wake-up time was recorded incorrectly, you can manually edit your sleep to correct it.
What you’ll see after syncing in the morning
When you open the app in the morning, and syncing has completed, you should see:
A question banner asking how you slept
A sleep duration suggestion that you can confirm, edit, or delete
Your sleep data, visible in the Timeline, Overview, and Sleep Summary screens
This is the expected behavior once your data has fully synced.
Missing Sleep HRV in the Overview
To see your Typical Sleep Heart Rate Variability (HRV) value in the Overview, you need:
At least 10 days of wear in the last month
If you don’t meet this requirement yet, the value will not appear.

Sleep stages showing “Undefined”
If you see a large portion of Undefined sleep stages in the Sleep Summary, it means the watch did not collect enough reliable data to classify your sleep stages.
This can happen occasionally and is expected. It does not mean your device is malfunctioning.
Awakenings issues
Can’t manually add an awakening
If you’re unable to add an awakening manually, follow these steps:
Go to the Timeline
Tap on a color-filled moon icon at the top of any chart
Tap the pencil icon to log an awakening
Under Awakenings, add one and select an end date and time first
Then select the start date and time
Tap Save
Make sure the time is correct and avoid confusing 12:00 and 00:00, so the awakening is saved under the correct night.
Incorrect long awakening recorded
If the watch recorded a long awakening by mistake, you can edit or remove it:
Go to the Timeline
Tap the color-filled moon icon at the top of any chart
Tap the pencil icon to edit your awakenings
Adjust or delete the awakening as needed
General advice to avoid missing sleep data
If your sleep data isn’t showing, review the checks below.
1. Make sure you wore your NOWATCH overnight
Sleep metrics can only be recorded when the watch is on your wrist, and the sensors stay in contact with your skin.
Wear the watch snugly above your wrist bone.
Make sure the strap is secure before going to sleep, as it may loosen during the night.
Before going to sleep, check that the green LED sensors light up when the watch is on your wrist
2. Check the battery level before sleeping
If the battery runs out overnight, no sleep data can be recorded.
Charge your watch before bed.
We recommend having at least 30% battery before sleeping.
3. Open the app every morning and allow syncing to complete
If the app hasn’t been opened since you woke up, your sleep data may not have synced yet.
Open the NOWATCH app in the morning.
Keep the Now screen open until the sync bar at the top finishes.
Once syncing is complete, you should see your sleep data in the Timeline, Overview, and Sleep Summary screens.
4. Make sure your watch is connected
Sleep data will only sync if your watch is connected.
Look for the green circle at the top of the Now screen
Open Device Details and confirm the status shows Connected
Check that your NOWATCH appears in your phone’s Bluetooth settings
5. Keep the app running in the background
Avoid fully closing the app before going to sleep. Keeping it open in the background helps maintain stable connectivity and consistent syncing.
6. Check whether the app was closed for too long
NOWATCH can store data for up to 24 hours. If the app isn’t opened within that time, older unsynced data may be overwritten.
To avoid this:
Open the app at least once per day.
Allow syncing to fully complete.
7. Ensure your app and firmware are up to date
8. If you still have missing sleep data
Contact our Customer Support team and share:
A screenshot of your Timeline showing the relevant night and times.
-
A screenshot of your Sleep Summary. To open it:
Tap Overview → Asleep (moon icon)
Under Sleep Regularity, tap any bar
Tap the arrow on the right to open the summary
