In this article, you’ll learn why your data may be missing or showing gaps in the app. You’ll also find practical tips to help prevent gaps and keep your data tracking consistent.
If, after pairing your watch and app for the first time, you notice that no data is being recorded within a few minutes, check whether the sensors on the back of the device are lighting up while you’re wearing it. If the sensors are not activating, performing a quick reboot should resolve the issue.
Why the app may show data gaps
Data gaps appear when your NOWATCH wasn’t able to collect or sync data during certain periods. This can happen for several reasons:
The watch wasn’t worn during that time
Metrics can only be recorded when the device is on your wrist, and the sensors are in contact with your skin.
There's no way to recover data if you weren't wearing the watch at that time.
What you can do
- Wear the watch during the day to capture stress-, heart rate–related metrics, steps, and more.
- Wear the watch overnight to ensure your sleep data is recorded.
The watch recorded low-quality data
Sometimes data gaps appear because the data collected wasn’t reliable enough to be processed. NOWATCH prioritizes accuracy, so low-quality data may be excluded instead of shown.
This can happen if the watch doesn’t have consistent skin contact, is worn too loosely, is positioned incorrectly, or if there’s excessive movement.
What you can do
-
Wear the watch snugly above your wrist bone as shown in the video below.
The watch's crown should point at 8 o’clock
Avoid wearing the strap too loose or too tight
Make sure the sensors light up while wearing it
Especially during an activity, make sure the watch stays in contact with your skin
Before going to sleep, make sure the strap is secure. You naturally move during the night, and a loose fit can affect sensor contact.
The app wasn’t opened for an extended period
NOWATCH can store data for up to 24 hours. If the app isn’t opened within that timeframe, older unsynced data may be overwritten.
What you can do
Always ensure you open the app at least once per day and allow data syncing to complete so you don't see any data gaps.
The device battery was low or fully drained
If the battery runs out, the watch cannot collect or store any data.
What you can do
Make sure your watch always has enough battery. We recommend charging it when it reaches around 20% to avoid a full drain. Before going to sleep, ensure the battery is above 30% to reduce the risk of it running out overnight.
The sensors do not light up while wearing the watch
If the sensors on the back of your watch are not active while you’re wearing it, no data will be recorded during that time.
What you can do
Always check that your sensors' LED lights are lighting up when wearing the watch on your wrist.
If the sensors' lights are off:
Your watch may be out of battery. Ensure it's charged.
Force close the app, and reopen it. Check the sensors.
-
Use the charger to activate the sensors:
- Place your NOWATCH on the charger for 30 seconds.
- Remove from the charger
- Check if the sensors briefly light up, even without skin contact.
-
Reboot your NOWATCH:
- Force close the app
- Ensure your watch is on your wrist
- Press the crown for 12 seconds until you feel a vibration
- Check if the sensors light up again
A factory reset was performed
Any data that wasn’t synced before the reset will be permanently removed.
What you can do
Avoid performing a factory reset whenever possible.
If you’re experiencing connection issues, start by force-closing the app and reopening it. If the issue persists, try rebooting your watch. A factory reset should only be used as a last resort when previous troubleshooting steps have not resolved the problem.
