Connectivity: How to make it work

Start with the basics

First, ensure you are meeting all pairing requirements, such as ensuring Bluetooth is turned on, your phone and watch are close to each other, and your watch has enough battery. You won't be able to check this in the app at the top right of the Now tab if you're disconnected, but you can ensure you recently charged the device.

Check your connection

When you open the app, check your connection status. You should see a green circle at the top right of the Now screen, confirming you are connected. A red circle means you're disconnected. 

Double-check you're connected by following the steps below:

1. Tap the watch icon in the top right corner of the Now screen

2. This will open the Device Details screen

3. Check that the status shows Connected

If the watch and app don't connect

If you met the initial requirements but the watch and app still won't connect, access this article to troubleshoot the problem.

Data syncing: What to expect

Once connected, your data should sync automatically. Syncing may sometimes complete immediately without the need to wait.

If syncing is not instant, once connected, you should see a syncing bar at the top of the Now screen, which may take up to one minute to complete. 

The syncing process may take one minute or more if the app hasn’t been opened for a while and more data needs to be transferred, for example, when you open the app for the first time in the day after a full night of sleep.

Once the syncing has been completed, you should see real-time data in your Now and Timeline screens.

While waiting:

• Check that the sensors on the back of the watch are lighting up while wearing it. 

• This confirms the watch has enough battery and is collecting data correctly

After syncing completes:

• Check that data appears in both the Now and Timeline screens

• Confirm the green connected circle is still visible
  
  

  

If you see no data and no sync bar

1. Wait one minute.

2. If the data didn't sync, fully close and reopen the app

3. Allow time for syncing to complete

4. If that doesn't work, reboot your NOWATCH:

   1. Fully close the app

   2. Press and hold the crown for 15 seconds

   3. Release when you feel a long vibration

   4. Reopen the app and wait for the sync bar

Pro tips to ensure proper syncing

Keep the app active

• Open the app at least once a day

• Keep it running in the background for smoother syncing

Good to know

• Your NOWATCH device can store data for up to 24 hours. 
• If the app isn’t opened within that time, data stored on the watch that hasn't been synced to the app yet may be overwritten.

Keep the app and firmware up to date

Always use the latest version of:

• The NOWATCH app

• Your device firmware

Updates improve performance and fix known issues.
