In this article, you'll learn where your data is stored, how data storage works, and best practices to avoid losing data.
Data storage on your NOWATCH
Your NOWATCH is designed to keep tracking your data even when it’s temporarily disconnected from your phone. If your watch isn’t connected to the app, it can safely store up to about 24 hours of data on the device itself. This helps ensure you don’t lose information if syncing doesn’t happen right away.
How data storage works
Your watch keeps recording: If your phone is out of Bluetooth range or Bluetooth is turned off, your NOWATCH will continue collecting data and store it locally on the device.
Data syncs automatically: As soon as your watch reconnects to the app, all stored data is automatically transferred and becomes visible in the app.
There’s a storage limit: Your NOWATCH can store roughly 24 hours of data. If the watch stays disconnected for longer than that, older unsynced data may be overwritten by newer data.
Important things to know
Factory reset = data loss: If you perform a factory reset before syncing, any data stored on the watch (up to the last 24 hours) will be permanently deleted.
Deleting the app removes app data: If you delete and reinstall the app, all data stored in the app will be lost.
Creating a new account starts fresh: If you delete your account and create a new one, previous data will not carry over to the new account.
Tip for best results
To avoid data loss, open the app at least once per day and allow syncing to complete. This keeps your data safe and up to date.
Once the data is synced, where is it stored?
Stored on your phone: Data collected by your NOWATCH sensors is synced to the app and stored locally on your phone.
Shared only with your consent: We do not have access to your data unless you explicitly choose to share it with us. If data sharing is enabled, your data is also securely stored on our servers, hosted on AWS in the EU-central-1 (Frankfurt) region.
Anonymized and protected: Your data is linked to a randomized identifier (UUID) that is known only to you. This means your information is fully anonymized and cannot be traced back to your identity.
