How time zone changes affect your app data
There is currently a known issue with how the app handles time zone changes. When travelling to a different time zone, the Timeline, Overview, and Now screens may look off and not update as expected, affecting most metrics such as steps and heart rate.
Our team has recently kicked off a larger project focused on improving how the app handles time changes and time zones to prevent issues like this from recurring. A release date is not yet available, but work is actively in progress.
What you may notice in the app
Some examples of how this issue can appear:
-
Step count is inaccurate — This happens because steps appear under the wrong day (e.g. yesterday instead of today)
-
Today's date is missing in the Timeline or Overview
-
Duplicate dates may appear in the Timeline or Overview screens
-
Activity dates and times are inaccurate
Please note that these are just a few examples of how this issue can appear — it may also present itself in other ways.
What to expect and when to reach out
In most cases, the issue will resolve itself — it may take a few days for the app to update and reflect the correct information. No action is required in the meantime.
If the issue persists after a few days, please reach out to Customer Care.
