Sleep metrics

Your sleep plays a significant role in your overall well-being, and NOWATCH helps you gain insights into different aspects of your sleep.

Sleep Metrics Overview

  1. Sleep Duration

  2. Sleep Stages

  3. Regularity

  4. Awakenings

  5. Total Time Awake

  6. Average Heart Rate Variability during sleep.

Sleep Duration is the total amount of time you slept last night. Most adults need between 7 and 9 hours, but individual needs vary. Sleep requirements can change throughout life. Keep in mind that more sleep is not necessarily better, oversleeping can sometimes be counterproductive. Your 'Typical' sleep duration represents your average sleep duration over time.

Regularity reflects how the time you went to sleep last night and woke up this morning compares to your usual routine.

  • Moon symbol: It indicates when you usually go to sleep.

  • Sun symbol: It shows when you usually wake up.

Maintaining consistent sleep and wake times can improve your overall sleep quality. Regular sleep patterns help your body align with its natural rhythms.

Awakenings. The number of times you woke up during the night. It’s normal to have some awakenings during sleep, but frequent wake-ups can affect how rested you feel. Monitoring awakenings helps you understand sleep quality better. Your 'Typical' shows the average number of times you wake up during a typical night.

Total Time Awake. The total time awake is the total amount of time you spent awake during the night, including brief wake-ups. Frequent or prolonged periods of being awake can disrupt your sleep quality, leaving you feeling less rested. Tracking this can help identify factors affecting your sleep and improve overall restfulness.

Average Heart Rate Variability during sleep. HRV measures the variation in time between heartbeats, reflecting your parasympathetic activity (e.g., digestion and salivation). Changes from your average HRV may indicate poor sleep quality, stress, or other factors impacting your health. Monitoring Sleep HRV helps you track how well your body recovers. Your 'Typical' reflects your average Sleep HRV.
